Instructors for fine arts sought PICO RIVERA – Pico Rivera REACH (Recreation and Education Accelerating Children’s Hopes) seeks new instructors and specialists to work in different media, including visual arts, ceramics, dance, music, drama and film. Instructors are responsible for providing qualified, arts-based instruction to children in a school setting and will work 10 to 20 hours per week. WHITTIER – The Whittier Conservancy will host its annual Candlelight Walk at 7 p.m. Thursday. The walk will begin at the home of Dorothea Boyd, 13503 Sycamore Drive. Participants will walk along Haviland Avenue to view the eclectic architectural styles on that street. After the walk, refreshments will be offered. The event is free. Salary ranges from $15 to $25 per hour and depends on experience. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and have relevant experience working with children. Supplemental college course work is desired. REACH is a grant-funded after-school program (2 to 6 p.m.) provided in partnership with the El Rancho Unified School District. The goals of the program are to enhance academics for children, reduce absenteeism and improve behavior. La Mirada to host annual chili concert LA MIRADA – The city will host its annual Chili Holiday Concert from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Civic Center. The free event includes chili and entertainment provided by local students. In addition, there will be holiday carolers, hot chocolate, cookies and photos with Santa Claus. Assorted teas, scones, sandwiches, fruit and dessert will be offered.
