first_imgClub Notes – Naomh Adhamhnáin – 20.08.12Best wishes to Rory, Kevin and Donegal on Sunday as they bid to reach the 2012 All-Ireland SFC Final by defeating Cork in Croke Park, throw-in is 3:30pm. Anyone that has ordered tickets off Charlie McAteer can collect them on Thursday night in the Clubhouse between 7:30pm and 8:30pm. The Juniors travelled to Glencolmcille for the 1st leg of their Championship 1st round game against Naomh Columba and came away with  a draw. They will try to advance to the quarter-finals in the return leg this Saturday evening (Aug. 25th) at 7pm. All support will be welcome.The Minor Boys footballers will take on Aodh Ruadh in their League semi-final this Friday (Aug. 24th) in MacCumhaill Park at 7pm. They will take on Gaoth Dobhair in the Northern Championship semi-final next Wednesday, Aug. 29th in the Park, throw-in is 7pm.The U21 Footballers will take on the winner of the Killybegs v Kilcar derby on Friday week, August 31st in Donegal Town in the Championship quarter-final.The U14 Boys had a big win over Buncrana in the Northern Championship Final, they now await the Southern Board runner-up in the county semi-final (Ardara or N. Conaill). The U13 boys have their first games on Friday week (Aug. 31st). The Div. 1 Team are at home to MacCumhaills. The Div. 2 team travel to Milford and the Div. 3 team are at home to Glenfin.Well done to the U11 Boys team that won the Bellaghy tournament last week defeating Bellaghy in the semi-final and Magherafelt in the Final after coming through a tough group. The U9 team lost their quarter-final game to Burren.The U16 girls had a good win in Convoy last week. The U14 girls take on the Gaels in the Park on Friday evening, throw-in is at 6pm.The Sunday Morning Academy is not on this week due to Donegal’s involvement in the All-Ireland semi-final.Well done to our four representatives on the Donegal Minor hurling team, Kevin Meehan, Francis Lennon, Conor Parke and David Ireland. They were beaten in the quarter final of the All Ireland Minor B championship by Roscommon but performed very well at a new level for Donegal hurling.The U12 Hurlers had another tough game this week against Burt but came through with the win. Next up this Thursday is Buncrana who remain unbeaten so far this season. Three players represented the Club in the U12 hurling skills competition. Shane O Donnell won the competition with a total of 200 points while Cormac Finn and Darragh Doherty finished 3rd and 6th respectively. The U10 Hurlers played in a Blitz held on Sunday in Pairc na Gael. The hurlers did themselves proud. Thanks to the Gaels for hosting and all in attendance.The U16 Hurlers lost to Buncrana. Nevertheless it was an encouraging performance by this young team which has now reached the B-League Final to be held on the 6th of September. The venue and time have yet to be confirmed. The U16’s have no game this week.The Hurling and Camogie runs on Friday as usual. Camogie training for U14 and U16 is expected to begin this September.On Monday our Peace III “GAA For All” Programme was launched by Uachtáran CLG, Mr. Liam O’Neill. We have employed 4 coaches to work within schools in the greater Letterkenny area to introduce Gaelic games to children from different religious and cultural backgrounds for which our games are not a traditional past time. Special thanks to Brendan McGlynn from The Quiet Moment for sponsoring the food for the launch. Also on Monday, we launched a World Record Attempt for the Largest GAA Coaching Lesson that will take place on Saturday, September 29th in O’Donnell Park, more details on facebook.There was no Jackpot winner in this week’s Lotto Draw. The numbers drawn were: 4-5-11-19 and 2 winners matched 3 numbers and win €50 each. Cathal Greene, Loughnagin and John Cavanagh (both card).
