Meet Michael Jordan’s security guard John Michael Wozniak, who shined in ‘The Last Dance’

first_imgEpisodes 5 and 6 of ESPN’s documentary series “The Last Dance” aired Sunday and with it brought some amazing footage of Michael Jordan playing a quarter toss game with a security guard. The footage showed just how competitive Jordan got, even in something as silly as tossing quarters at a wall. It also showed how he was willing to gamble on literally anything involving competition and himself. The game was simple in nature: try to toss the quarter as close to the wall without hitting the wall. Wozniak passed away in January 2020 at the age of 69. During his life he spent a lot of time with Jordan, and the NBA superstar treated him well. “I traveled with Michael to every major city in the U.S., but I also went along with his family on vacations, to events, even all the way to Paris. All over the world,” Wozniak told Complex. “A tremendous bond was formed, and we took it seriously. I have a special relationship with Michael that I share to this day.”The late John Michael Wozniak tells the true story of what it was like working as one of Michael Jordan’s security guards. #TheLastDanceFULL STORY: https://t.co/pBDnb5hKaa pic.twitter.com/DnmAyGjsku— Complex Sneakers (@ComplexSneakers) April 28, 2020In the tribute video for Wozniak, many pictures can be seen with him and Jordan at various points in his career. He and a few others worked part-time at Chicago Stadium where they would work as security officers.”That’s how I got the opportunity to work with Michael and his entire family,” Wozniak told Complex in 2016. “Two other police officers had befriended Michael, and he wanted them to provide security for him when he’d have anything to do outside of being a Chicago Bulls superstar. Cell Division Involves “Vast Array of Molecules and Processes”

first_imgScientists continue to probe the roles of individual proteins in the symphony of molecules involved in cell division.  An article on Science Daily discussed work at Rockefeller University to understand one such protein named PRC1 that acts as a kind of molecular foreman for spindle orientation.  The opening paragraph is the notable part: Just before a cell divides into two – the basic act of reproducing life – the cellular environment must be exquisitely prepared.  The exact timing and localization of the vast array of molecules and processes involved in duplicating chromosomes and separating the offspring from the parent is one of the basic wonders of biology and is at the core of both healthy living and diseases such as cancer, which arise when the process goes awry. The article made no mention of evolution, except to hint that it hasn’t occurred with PRC1: “Scientists have known that PRC1, for ‘Protein Regular [sic; Regulator] of Cytokines 1,’ is required in yeast, plants and humans for linking together the polymers that make up spindles, called microtubules, in a specific orientation.”Looks like it will be a great year for intelligent design science, now that the fogma has been clearing from the Darwin Bicentennial for a year now.(Visited 11 times, 1 visits today)FacebookTwitterPinterestSave分享0last_img read more

Bahamas DPM responds to Opposition statement on Moodys review

first_img#MagneticMediaNews#TurnquestRespondsToCoopersMoodyComments Related Items: Facebook Twitter Google+LinkedInPinterestWhatsAppcenter_img Facebook Twitter Google+LinkedInPinterestWhatsAppBahamas, July 13th 2017: Sheer amazement and disappointment, is how DPM and Finance Minister Peter Turnquest is describing the latest comments from the PLP camp on the Moody’s review. Turnquest in responding to the comments called it “the wrong statements at the wrong time”, and says there is a growth strategy in place, contrary to what the Exuma MP is saying. Chester Cooper released a statement on Tuesday, offering an olive branch to work with the current administration in bringing down debt levels, while offering words of advice on how to handle the current fiscal situation.Turnquest immediately discredited Cooper’s words, saying “these words have no place in the current debate on the Country’s fiscal challenges”. He went on to say it was no secret to both credit rating agencies, Standard and Poor’s and Moody’s, that the economy had been driven to the ground by the previous administration. The finance minister adds his administration was elected on a promise of transparency, and had a duty to come clean and not mislead the country, while undertaking the daunting task of putting in place the necessary reforms to stabilize public finances. Casting blame on the previous administration, Turnquest says “had they been more transparent, more honest and more responsible, the country would not have been facing these challenges”.last_img read more
