first_imgCAPPRY ROVERS NOTES  15/02/2016 CAPPRY ROVERS LOTTO Last weeks Lotto took place in the Roadhouse Bar on Saturday night.The numbers drawn in last week’s draw were 1, 2, 7, 11.There was no jackpot winner.The winner of the €50 lucky ticket was Ruth Reilly, Cappry.Next weeks jackpot is €4450.Remember if you’re not in, you can’t win!!! CAPPRY ROVERS Cappry Rovers pulled out all the stops to shock Ulster League side Swilly Rovers in the Knockalla Cup in Cappry Park by three goals to one. The game was reversed to Cappry when Swilly Park was deemed unplayable.Cappry created the chances in the opening stages and forced a number of corners in quick succession but couldn’t find the net. Swilly opened the scoring in the 36th minute against the run of play when Marty McDaid got his head to the ball to score to the top corner of the net.Cappry got back on level terms in the 39th minute when Darren O’Leary got his foot to the ball to score from an acute angle. Cappry kept pressing for the lead goal but to no avail.Halftime 1-1.Cappry took the lead in the 46th minute when Kyle O’Meara pounced to score when the Swilly keeper failed to clear his lines. Conor McBride made a number of good saves in the Cappry goal to keep the home team in front.Cappry went further in front in the 63rd minute when Darren O’Learys shot hit the post and the ball went across the goal line without going into the net and Colm Melaugh won the ball from the rebound and he was fouled and the referee pointed to the spot and Darren O’Leary scored from the resulting penalty to put Cappry in the driving seat. Swilly put the pressure on but Cappry held firm.The Swilly keeper made a few good saves after that as did the Cappry keeper.Final Score 3-1.Team Performance From Cappry with youngster Kyle O’Meara being exceptional.Marty Mc Daid was Swilly’s best player.Free weekend this weekend. Training as usual.CAPPRY ROVERS RESERVES Cappry Rovers Reserves were due to play Milford at the weekend but it was called off due to unfortunate circumstances. They have a free weekend. Training as usual this week.CAPPRY CRUSADERS U16’s On Sunday afternoon Cappry Crusaders played Ballyraine Celtic in the Finn Valley. Cappry started very brightly and created a number of half chances but couldn’t convert. Ballyraine created a couple of chances of their own but the Cappry defence dealt well with everything until the 20th minute when Ballyraine scored a scrappy goal. They were to get another goal on the half hour mark after a mix up in the Cappry defence when the ball wasn’t cleared properly. Cappry had the ball in the net when Shane Carlin took a shot that the keeper could only push into the path of Philip Boyle who tapped in at the back post only for the referee to harshly rule it out for offside. Conor McCormack also saw a free kick from outside the box which had the keeper well beaten but hit the crossbar and went out for a goal kick. Cappry went in 2 down at halftime. In the 2nd half Cappry started brightly again and scored following a free kick when Shane Rowan hammered the ball to the top of the net. This was as good as it got for Cappry as they had a few players who got injured and had only 1 sub. Even after a few more goals went against Cappry, they never give up and showed a lot of heart. 3 of the 12 players in the squad that day were under 14’s. Final score was 5-1. Team performance from both teams.CAPPRY ROVERS U14’s Cappry Rovers welcomed Convoy Arsenal to Cappry Park this evening and ran out comfortable winners on a 7-0 scoreline. Cody Laverty (2), Jamie Murray (2), Daniel Gordon, Kieran Thompson and Thomas McMenamin scoring the goals for Cappry.CAPPRY ROVERS U12’s On Saturday afternoon Cappry played Lagan Harps at the Finn Valley. Lagan are always tough opposition and it’s always a game where if the boys don’t perform they know they won’t get anything out of the game. Fortunately, the lads clicked on the day and recorded an impressive 5-0 win to leave them 2 points clear at the top of the league with a game in hand. Andrew Murray (2), Daniel Marley, Kevin McCormack and Oisin McGlinchey scored the Cappry goals.CAPPRY COLTS U12’s The Colts made the long trip to Manor on Saturday to play Lagan in the 1st division. The Colts got off to a good start with Sean Lyons scoring the Colts 1st goal after 15 minutes. Shaun Ryan scored the Colts 2nd to send them in 2-0 up at the break. In the 2nd half Lagan came out and put the Colts under a bit of pressure and pulled 1 back 10 minutes in. Cappry kept them at bay for most of the 2nd half while creating a couple of chances of their own which they couldn’t capitalise on. Disaster struck 2 minutes from time when the give away a soft goal and allow Lagan a share of the spoils. Final score 2-2.CAPPRY CRUSADERS U12’s Cappry Crusaders were away to the Ballybofey United Colts on Saturday afternoon at the Finn Valley and came away with a very good 4-0 win with Martin Mbuli scoring all 4 goals. He scored 2 goals in each half. Only for the performance of the Ballybofey keeper, this could have been a bigger scoreline as he made numerous good saves.  All the lads played very well and never took their foot of the gas all game. This result leaves them joint top of the league with a game in hand. They are due to play Castlefin tomorrow evening (Tuesday) in Cappry Park with a 7pm kick off.LAST MAN STANDING COMPETITION Cappry are going to run another Last Man Standing competition which will run from the 27th February.
